The Pest Company carry out every termite and timber pest inspection with the aided help from a few essential tools that enhance the inspection process.
1. Thermal camera
Termites destroy homes, so the more tools we have to on board to help locate live active termites the better. Not all infestations can be found using a Thermal camera, however, on this occasion, the camera helps us track down a lot of active termites (Coptotermes Species) within the wall cavity. Termites work fast and do not stop for a break, they just keep going. Visual Termite Inspections and Timber Pest Inspections have limitations as we cannot see through walls or behind stored items/Furniture or beneath roof void insulation or under a slab even with a camera. Australian Standards AS3660.2-2017 recommends a Thermal Camera and so it should remember it is not a magical tool and we are not magicians but technicians, however, it will assist the operational process.
2. LED Lenser Torch
A high power torch that lasts the entire day’s inspections that are worth every cent. Led Lenser allows us to charge on the go in the car and at home overnight, ensuring our torches are ready for the long day. Not only do we use torches in the sub-floor and roof void, we use it throughout the property on every inspection. Even the smallest of marks need to be picked up and investigated.

3. Tramex Moisture Encounter Plus Meter
– A Longstanding industry tool that helps us locate moisture in wall cavities, and double check water stains on walls and ceilings that are found during the inspection and most of all check behind baths and shower recesses where the design of the property allows to. Termites not only love the humid conditions, they love moisture and need it, just like us. If the property has a leak or drainage issues we need to know as moisture attracts termites and rectification is required to reduce the chance of an attack. The Australian Standards AS3660.2-2017 lists this tool as a standard tool that should be used for all Termite Inspections. At TPC we abide by the standards and set our levels much higher to ensure we do not let our customers down when it comes to inspecting properties for Termites.
